Well, you had an adventure. I had a ford 250 PSD and loved it. I got stuck in the mud and sand in alabama. I have driven on sand beaches and also have done off road travel in my tahoe and my wrangler. The first rule is to air down and then air down some more. I put about 15 - 20 lbs in and travel on the beach all the time. You can still get stuck. I have a 9000 pound winch onthe offroad tahoe.
You were very lucky and the young man who came out and the helo crew possibly saved you. We all make mistakes traveling but the learning from them is the best thing. You had water and food that is good. You neeed a shovel and sand rails and sand anchor and at least a come along. YOu can use your spare tire if you burry it and then pull you rtruck that way.
